This specially designed violin-style, double cutaway, semi-hollow body guitar is the prototype to the BRL Custom 001. Its beautiful book-matched, flamed maple top, which is over 1/2 inch thick at the centre, has been carved both inside and outside, with great attention to detail. The South American mahogany body has a solid centre block two sound chambers, connected by two internal channels for maximum sustain.

The highly figured AAA  grade, 1/4 inch thick book-matched, quilted maple back boasts some of the finest grain pattern, which accentuates the rare beauty of this gorgeous instrument. Like the BRL Custom 001, this guitar also has a beautifully figured flamed maple neck, with a 24-fret pao ferro (South American) fingerboard. The angled headstock, with its highly figured flamed maple veneer overlay and staggered tuners round off the package.

Technical Specifications

  • 25 1/2 inch scale length.

  • Mahogany centre core, beautifully hand-carved solid flamed maple top and AAA Grade solid quilted maple back. Body  has a solid centre block, with a sound chamber on either side, connected by two internal channels. Back plate for the  control cavity is laminated with quilted maple to match the guitar's back.

  • Bolt-on flamed maple neck with 2-way adjustable truss rod. Headstock has a 15 degree angle and is laminated with  quilted maple. Neck width 1 11/16" at nut 2 1/4" at 24th fret.

  • Pao ferro fingerboard, with abalone dot inlays.

  • 24 high quality 18% nickel-silver medium or jumbo frets.

  • 2 nickel-covered Golden Age Humbucker pickups, with Alnico 5 magnets for warm classic tones, and wax-potted for  microphonic suppression.

  • Adjustable Combination Bridge/Tailpiece.

  • Master volume control, master tone control and 6-position rotary switch to offer a multitude of single coil tonalities.

  • Sperzel Trim-Lok, 3-a-side staggered tuners..

  • Nickel or Chrome hardware.

  • Violin Sunburst at top and tiger's-eye at back.

  • Spray finished with ColorTone High-Gloss, Professional Guitar Lacquer.

  • Optional colours are double-stained violin amber, transparent blackburst, transparent red.
