This handcrafted 5-string beauty is one of two Custom Electric Basses that I master-built for Dean Witter of Smithville, Ontario. Dean visited my website, saw my work and came to me with a template for his ‘Dream Bass’ and a large slab of beautiful flamed maple which he bought from The Wood Shed, not far from his home. I custom-designed the template for building a five-piece laminated neck for the two custom basses and Dean took me to meet James DeBoer of The Wood Shed, which boast a large supply of the finest quality tone woods. James laminated and machined the 5-piece neck blanks in accordance with my design specifications.  I designed the headstock and carved the neck and the body entirely by hand with attention to detail.

• Beautifully hand carved flamed (fiddle back) maple body, finished in a transparent deep vintage amber colour, with dramatic grain enhancement.

• Quarter-sawn, satin finished 5-piece laminated (maple/wenge/maple/wenge/maple) transparent amber colour, bolt-on neck built for speed, has a 2-way adjustable ‘Hot Rod’  truss rod for maximum stability.

• Satin finished, curly maple fret board, with rounded edges for a smooth broken-in feel and fast action, is inlaid with abalone position dots.

• 24 highest quality 18% nickel silver, fully accessible, well dressed, highly polish frets, will delight great bass players who enjoy the facility of owning an instrument with two full octaves.

• EMG model 40HZ pickup for 5-string bass delivers great tone and noise-free performance.

• Master volume control, master tone control, with chrome knobs to match the colour of the bridge.

• Fine quality ‘Hipshot’ chrome-plated bridge, with fully adjustable individual string saddles and a channeled base plate, to prevent lateral movement with enhanced tuning stability.

• Gotoh compact chrome bass machines, 3 left/2 right keep the instrument in perfect tune.

• Pickup cavity and control cavity thoroughly shielded with 2 coats of conductive shielding paint for noise-free, high quality performance.

• 3/16 inch thick quilted maple back plate, finished in the same colour as the bass body, has the underside thoroughly shielded with conductive copper shielding tape.

• Transparent deep vintage amber body is finished with non-toxic, environmentally friendly Target Emtech Waterbase Brushing Varnish.
